As part of his visit to the United Arab Emirates, Narek Mkrtchyan, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, met with Gilbert Houngbo, the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am that during the meeting, a number of issues related to the implemented and planned reforms in labor and employment in Armenia were discussed.
Minister Mkrtchyan thanked the head of the ILO for close and effective cooperation, as well as for assisting in sectoral reforms in Armenia.
Agreeing with the priorities set by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, Gilbert Houngbo reaffirmed his readiness to invest the necessary resources and efforts aimed at sectoral cooperation.
In addition, he presented to the Armenian minister his initiative to create a global coalition of social justice, and proposed that Armenia be a part of it.
Also during the talk, Narek Mkrtchyan briefed Gilbert Houngbo on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of the blocking of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan; the minister had informed his ILO colleague about this earlier in an official letter.
