Armenia is not discussing the resettlement of 120,000 Artsakh citizens in Armenia for a worst-case scenario of the situation in Nagorno Karabakh, Prime Minister of Armenia said at a press conference held in Yerevan.

“Armenia is not discussing such an issue as the resettlement of Artsakh residents in Armenia. Armenia is discussing the issue of creating opportunities for the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians to live in their own homes, in their own country, in their birthplace,” he said.

Asked whether he discussed with his Russian partners the issue of including Artsakh in the Russian Federation and how realistic it is, Pashinyan said. “I simply have no answer to that, because it does not concern me. I have never had such a discussion.”

Speaking about the blockade of the Lachin Corridor that connects Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia and the world, Pashinyan said that Armenia can appeal to the UN Security Council regarding the implementation of the decision of the International Court of Justice on the opening of the Lachin Corridor. In his words, Armenia is working in this direction as well.

“We are in contact with permanent and non-permanent member states of the UN Security Council. We are in the discussion phase. There is no difficulty to submit a request to the UN Security Council, you can do so within an hour. The problem is whether or not a decision will be made as a result, and if so, what decision will made,” he said, adding that the UN Security Council is also a political body.
